BiFilms are well known in the Foundry industry along with their effects on casting strength, leakers and integrity. They are less well known in Die Casting. However, a sound knowledge of all types of oxides is invaluable for producing high-quality parts.

Gary Savage first met John Campbell about 20 years ago and since then has been a keen follower and promoter of John’s work to improve the knowledge and capability of metal casting by focusing on BiFilms.

In this presentation, Gary will provide updates from around the globe on:

• Hasco’s adoption of naturally pressurised runner systems
• Austral Alloys runners
• Crest CNC cast iron block casting
• RMIT research into cleaning of aluminium melts
